Privacy, plainly explained

This notice explains what information is processed when you use FootyOnTV, why it is needed and the choices available to you. It applies to the public website at footyontv.com and to the FootyOnTV apps for iOS and Android.

Information we do not ask for

The site has no user accounts, comments, contact forms, newsletter or checkout. We do not ask for your name, email address, telephone number, password or payment information, and we do not sell personal information.

Technical information

Like most websites, our hosting and security infrastructure may process request information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include:

• your IP address and approximate network location;
• the requested page, date, time and response status;
• browser, device and user-agent information; and
• the referring page and security signals used to detect abuse.

We use this information to serve pages, diagnose faults, monitor reliability, prevent malicious traffic and understand aggregate site usage. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating a secure, useful public service. We do not use these request logs to make decisions about you, and we do not build advertising profiles from them. Advertising in the mobile apps is described separately below.

Analytics, cookies and similar storage

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate patterns such as which pages are visited, how visitors reached the site and the broad types of browsers and devices they use. Google Analytics may set analytics cookies and receive technical information from your browser, but it is not loaded unless you choose Allow analytics. We use this service for audience measurement. The website itself does not display advertising. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.

Infrastructure providers may also use strictly necessary security cookies to distinguish legitimate traffic from automated abuse.

If you use favourites or My TV, the application stores the selected team, competition and channel names and slugs in your browser’s local storage. This information stays on that browser and device; it is not attached to an account or sent to our server. You can remove individual favourites from My TV or clear the site’s local storage through your browser settings.

Advertising in the mobile apps

The FootyOnTV apps for iOS and Android are free and are funded by advertising. We use Google AdMob to select and display those ads. Two places in the app can show one: within the fixture listing, and on a match page beneath the channel information. The website does not carry advertising.

To do this, Google may process technical information from your device, including a resettable device advertising identifier, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and operating-system details, and information about ads you have been shown. Depending on your choices this may be used to show ads relevant to you, to measure whether ads were seen, and to limit how often the same ad appears.

You control this. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland the app asks for your consent before any ad is requested, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy settings in the app. On iOS the system additionally asks whether the app may track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites; you can change that answer in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the system settings.

If you decline, the app works exactly as it does otherwise — the full schedule, favourites and reminders are all unaffected. You may simply see ads that are less relevant to you, or none at all.

Reminders you set for kick-off times, and the teams, competitions and channels you follow, are stored only on your device. They are not sent to us and are not used for advertising.

Service providers and external content

We use hosting, content-delivery and security providers to operate the site, including Cloudflare at the network edge, Google Analytics for audience measurement, and Google AdMob for advertising in the mobile apps. These providers may process technical request data on our behalf or under their own legal responsibilities. Records may be processed in countries outside your own, subject to the safeguards applicable to the provider and service.

Fixtures, channel information and some team or competition badges are supplied by an external football-listings provider. When your browser loads a provider-hosted badge, that provider receives the normal web request, including your IP address and user-agent. Following a link to an external service, including our social profile, makes that service’s own privacy policy apply.

How long information is kept

Technical logs are kept only for as long as reasonably needed for security, fault investigation and service operation, then deleted or aggregated. The exact period can vary with the type of log, an active security incident and the settings of the infrastructure provider.

Your rights

Depending on where you live and the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, deletion or restriction of personal information, and to object to certain uses. Because the site has no accounts, we may hold little information that can be linked back to a particular visitor. We may need enough detail to locate a relevant log entry and confirm that a request is legitimate.

Deleting your mobile app data

FootyOnTV does not create an account or store your favourites, reminders, selected market or app settings on our servers. You can delete individual favourites and reminders inside the app. To delete all locally stored FootyOnTV data, clear the app’s storage in Android Settings or uninstall the app.

Advertising choices and advertising identifiers are managed separately. Open Settings → Ad privacy settingsin FootyOnTV to review or withdraw consent, and use Android’s privacy controls to reset or delete the advertising ID. Google may retain limited advertising, security and diagnostic records under its own legal obligations and retention policies.

If you want us to investigate or delete any technical record that may be associated with you, contact @footyontv and state that your request concerns the FootyOnTV mobile app. We may ask for enough information to locate the record and verify the request, but we will never ask for your password.

Changes

We will update this notice before introducing a materially different use of personal information. The date at the top shows when the text was last revised.
